PIP Semarang, Indonesia introduces DP and INS simulator training for its students

February 17, 2012 – Indonesia. On 20 January 2012, Capt. Bobby R Mamahit, Head of Transportation HRD Agency, Ministry of Transportation, Republic of Indonesia, opened a glorious ceremony of Integrated Navigation System Building launch. This building is owned by PIP Semarang (Semarang Merchant Marine Polytechnic), one of the state education institution administered by the Transportation HRD Agency.

The core of the Integrated Navigation System Building education and training facilities is Transas state of the art simulation suite. The most noticeable part is the navigational simulator NTPro 5000 main bridge. Its 12-channel visualization plus 3-channel rear view screen for Dynamic Positioning (DP) training provides 360 degrees view. Four cubicle part-task bridges extend the PIP Semarang training capacity. The simulator suite configuration includes six trainee stations for training in DP (both DP class 1 and DP class 2) and Radar/ECDIS operations to meet the increased demand for this kind of training. The Full Mission Engine Room simulator, ERS and Liquid Cargo Handling simulator networked classroom will serve for education of engineers and personnel responsible for cargo handling.

The Director of PIP Semarang, Capt. Bambang Purnomo said during his speech at the ceremony: "Today, Merchant Marine Polytechnic (PIP) Semarang is very proud to be classified as one of the modern world class maritime training and education training centers in the world. The integrated training solution provided by Transas is the highest quality product that fulfills even beyond our requirements to train high skilled seafarers who are ready to be challenged with any task in maritime world. We are satisfied with the solution from PT MultiIntegra as Transas Indonesia Distributor and thank them for the effective and efficient installation and services. PT MultiIntegra have their own well trained and qualified engineers. Their approach is not limited to supplying equipment during this period. PIP Semarang (Semarang Merchant Marine Polytechnic) provides education and training for the promising graduates from Senior High School who have chosen to become Merchant Marine Officer or Port and Shipping Management officer. To fulfill the demand in qualified personnel of maritime transportation industry, PIP Semarang undertakes a diploma IV program on Merchant Marine and Port & Shipping Management since Academic year 1995/1996. The Graduates obtain Sarjana Sains Terapan (S.ST), Bachelor of Applied Science. In 2000 PIP Semarang was listed in the "white List" of International Maritime Organization.
