Integrated Information from Navtex

Integrated Information from Navtex

Integrated Information from Navtex

Navi-Sailor 3000 automatically reads off messages supplied by the Navtex system, processes them; extracts coordinates, area, transmitting station, topic and other parameters; saves the message to the disk and displays the message mark on the electronic chart immediately after its reception. The automatic alarm is activated upon the entry into the zone received from the Navtex receiver, or at the approach to a single message mark.

Radar Picture Overlaying

Navi-Sailor 3000 can incorporate the Transas radar processor board, which receives a signal from the radar, subjects the received signal to digital processing and forms a data array for overlaying a radar picture on the electronic chart. The use of the radar processor board expands considerably Navi-Sailor 3000 scope of capabilities by adding the following features:

  • overlaying of the "raw" radar picture on top of the chart;
  • automatic extraction and tracking of up to 128 targets simultaneously;
  • recording of the "raw" radar picture onto the computer hard disk.

Owing to the capability to track targets throughout the entire radar operating range, automatic target acquisition and tracking, the Transas radar processor also performs ARPA functions.

Integration with SPOS (Weather and Route Planning Tool)

SPOS

A new convenient onboard SPOS weather and route planning tool integrated with Navi-Sailor 3000 enables users to receive weather forecasts supplied by Meteo Consult via e-mail. The SPOS permits:

  • subscribscription to, reception and display of forecasts;
  • input of route and ship details;
  • calculations of various route options;
  • comparison of route generation results;
  • saving of the best route as voyage plan and its daily updating.

The SPOS has a capability to import routes from Navi-Sailor 3000 or create optimum routes and export them to Navi-Sailor 3000.

3 Steps in Order to Be Always Updated with New Weather Forecasts:

  • create a subscription order in the SPOS;
  • send it via the ship’s communication station;
  • Meteo Consult will process your request and email the forecasts to you every day.

The size of a forecast for one area is about 30 Кb, so even Inmarsat Mini-M could be used without huge extra cost.

Integration with the AIS

AIS transponder interface is implemented in accordance with IEC 61993-2 international standard and takes into account IALA Technical Clarifications on Recommendation ITU-R M.1371-1 (Edition 1.3). Interfacing of this device with the Navi-Sailor produces the following capabilities:

  • to receive and display data on other targets using the AIS (coordinates, name, MMSI, IMO number, ship’s navigation status, ship’s type and nature of cargo, speed, etc.);
  • to receive and display additional data transmitted by ships and coastal AIS (aids to navigation, base stations, SAR aircraft AIS targets);
  • to transmit own ship data (call sign, name, MMSI and IMO number, type of cargo, type and navigation status of the ship, etc.);
  • to transmit safety related messages to other objects of the AIS system.

Enhanced interface capabilities:

  • Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS AIS interface covers all possible AIS transponders in compliance with IEC 61993-2 Ed.1 requirements;
  • possibility of full scale use of the Navi-Sailor as an MKD in the case of interface with SAAB R4 AIS;
  • possibility of interfacing with the transponder via Pilot Plug (Pilot Plug Interface) where the Navi-Sailor is used as the Pilot Personal Unit.

Search and Rescue Operations

Search and Rescue Operations

Search and Rescue Operations

Navi-Sailor 3000 allows the creation of a route corresponding to one of the SAR patterns recommended by the SAR Convention:

  • Expanding Square;
  • Parallel Track/Creeping Line;
  • Sector Search.

In addition, Current/Drift correction is available (calculated drift in the search area with the current constant).

Track Control System

The Track Control System based on Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS used together with the coordinates (EPFS), course (Gyrocompass) and speed (Log) sensors is intended for keeping a ship on a plotted route on straight legs as well as curved tracks.

The Track Control System is certified in accordance with IEC 62065 standard with the following autopilots:

  • Navis AP3000 Heading Control System – category C. Track control along pre-planned straight and curved tracks. (final stage of certification);
  • Raytheon NP2025 – category B. Track control along multiple pre-planned straight legs with assisted turns between legs;
  • Raytheon NP2025 Plus – category C. Track control along pre-planned straight and curved tracks. (final stage of certification);
  • Yokogawa PT 500A – category C. Track control along pre-planned straight and curved tracks.

Integration with the autopilot allows the vessel to keep on the plotted route automatically with the minimum participation of a navigator. The navigator’s attention which is usually distracted by route correction or performing turn manoeuvres, remains focused on the external navigational conditions.

The Track Control System, like Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS is type approved by Det Norske Veritas and meets the IMO MSC.74(69) Annex 2 and Standard IEC 62065 requirements.

Positioning Filter Function

The filter function is used for smoothing GPS/DGPS data based on secondary EPFS (Electronic Position Fixing System), log and gyro data.

The Kalman filter algorithm as well as (D)GPS are implemented for smooth and accurate positioning. Additional weather settings are available for compensation of yaw and sway.

The filter includes monitoring and alarm capability for the control of filtered and raw data divergence in a graphical form and as an indication.

The function is applicable to ships with speeds of less than 30 knots.

The system provides a convenient mean for plotting pre-planned and temporary routes (tracks). All the necessary alarms and indications warn the user of a critical situation.
