Virtual Ship Concept

In order to produce a new level of realism in simulation-based training Transas has developed and implemented up-to-date concept of Simulation Training Integration within its’ wide spectrum of training systems.

The concept is founded on two state-of-the-art training components - ‘Total Ship Simulation’ and ‘Environment Simulation’.

‘Total Ship Simulation’ is a combination of navigational, GMDSS, cargo handling and engine room simulators, fully integrated to allow Crew Resource Management (CRM) and team training according to the IMO and STCW’95 requirements and recommendations.

Virtual environment adds a new interaction level to the Total Ship, where Vessel Traffic Systems operators, environmental emergency response personnel and helicopter pilots may be involved in the same training scenarios by means of integration with VTMIS, Crisis Management and Helicopter simulators.

This level of integration provides a number of benefits, including:

  • New level of training realism (simulation of overall environment)
  • New training applications (e.g. crisis management exercises)
  • Lower cost of complex training (if to compare with cost of using real resources)
  • Improved use of available hardware resources
