NS3000 users questionnaire
4 Problem Situations List In 4.1 - 4.5 list, underline items with problem situations which you recommend should be included in NS3000 or presented in the form of separate set of problems (set of documents) with the aim of solving them (using as reference) during the watch or ship inspection in the port. Supplement the list at your discretion. 4.1 In case of loss of information from GNSS (radio navigation system) and manual plotting (manual input of true course and ship speed), the navigator should have a capability to obtain observed coordinates on the electronic chart by using the same procedure as that on the paper chart. 4.2 Automation of calculations involved in the determining of gyro correction by the sun, star, planet by the celestial body’s gyro bearing values and observation time (GMT) (STCW, SOLAS requirements). 4.3 Automation of calculation involved in the determining of observed coordinates in case of ship positioning by the sun or stars with the use of the following data: date, observation time (GMT), sextant readings, sextant correction, temperature, pressure (STCW, SOLAS requirements). 4.4 Availability of database on ISM code documents. 4.5 Where the plotting is made manually, the ship should be shown as a probability spot with larger dimensions taking into account the radar or visual (by bearings) positioning error rather than in the form of a strict contour.
